Sandia National Labs – Rocket Sled Track
This 5,000’ rocket sled track extension at Sandia National Laboratories was built to accommodate rocket sleds at velocities in excess of 5,000 miles per hour. The Vertical, horizontal and gauge rail tolerances were held to within plus or minus .015 of an inch in 4 feet, and plus or minus .125 of an inch in 480 feet.
Magdalena Ridge Observatory & Infrarometer Beam Collection Facility
The Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) consists of a number of large optical telescopes placed in a pattern similar to the VLA and will beam all of the light from the telescopes into a collector interferometer building six hundred feet long. From there it will enter a controls building to be viewed. The project includes the telescope bases, the interferometer building and the controls building, all on top of Magdalena Ridge, (elevation 10,500 feet).
