A Design/Build project, the H/MC-130 Fuel Cell Maintenance Facility is a Hangar with 31,942 square feet that will accommodate a C-130 or two CV22 airplanes. The Hanger space has a very high bay with highly sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems, and also has an expansion foam system in the Hangar bay. This facility also includes offices, conference room, break room, CTK room, communication room, fire protection equipment room, toilet/locker/shower rooms, janitor room, boiler room and mechanical/electrical rooms. This facility includes a fall protection system and breathing air drops to the aircraft fuel cells. This facility is LEED Silver accredited. Parking and landscaping were also provided. This project also includes an Armament Shop with 10,760 square feet and an addition to existing Corrosion Control Facility with 3,763 square feet.
West Mesa Aquatic Center
Construction of the West Mesa Aquatic Center included demolition of parking lots, landscaping and baseball fields for the erection of a 35,00 square foot indoor pool and support space. The pool was a double size Olympic pool with movable bulk heads and a 3375 square foot movable floor system that can vary the depth of the pool. The building construction was split face masonry, concrete and long span steel for a very unique designed indoor space.
Nuclear Sustainment Phase I & Phase 2
FY12 Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Sustainment Center Phase I
This was a large Design/Build project, 57,156 square feet two-story facility occupying open storage-secret, SCIF, STIC and SAPF spaces. High STC rated walls were required in several areas. The mechanical systems and distribution are designed to avoid passing through a SCIF or STIC area to get to other areas in the facility. A complete audio-visual system throughout the facility is included in the project. The facility also includes offices, conference rooms, break rooms, toilets/showers, locker room, fitness room, communication rooms, electrical/mechanical rooms and boiler room. Parking and landscaping were also provided. This project qualified for LEED Gold.
Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Sustainment Center Phase II
This Design/Build two-story building totaled 74,571 Square feet. The design included site improvements, storm water management, a parking lot, furniture layout, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, fire protection wet pipe sprinkler system and alarm, communications, access control, and compliance to Open Storage and SAPF regulations. This building was required to achieve LEED Silver, but was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold. It was built with insulated concrete formed exterior walls, structural steel, metal stud interior walls, first floor concrete slabs and second floor slab on deck construction features. The roof is TPO and the exterior finish is EIFS. Special construction includes high STC rated walls, doors, and locks. This project was particularly unique because it is connected to the Phase I secure facility and extensive planning was needed to join the buildings without violating current installation regulations.
